So I have my day all planned out. Friday is get it done day; T25 workout by 7am, gym at 8:30, visit my folks by 10, focus on my school work till 2, visit my son in the next state, book my flight for vacation, pay bills, lots of bills. The list goes on; actually, reality sets in and the list goes away. As I step on the treadmill I get a phone call, dad is ill and on his way to the hospital.
As I sit here waiting, trying not to worry, I thought this would be a good time to listen to a relaxation exercise. The music; tranquil, the voice; questionable, the lesson; valuable. I was not in the most appealing place to practice, but the most necessary. Having been through guided meditation before, I allowed my thoughts to drift and reminded myself not to borrow trouble; stay in the moment. What I have now is positive and real, at this moment, family is here and we have this moment. That is what is important. As the day progresses, I will continue to listen and review the relaxation to help me stay in the moment and be grateful for the now.

Hi Rozelle, your post caught my attention because I saw T25, which has been punishing me for the past couple months. It's a short workout, but tough! I am very sorry to read your Dad is not doing well. Now is surely a good time for relaxation techniques, but I do understand your worry. I hope things take a turn for the better and your Dad is feeling much better soon.
ReplyDeleteKeep at the T25 workout! I am through week one, I intend to keep pushing. Family is doing well, best part is, I was able to stay in the moment and keep the stress to a minimal.
DeleteRozelle,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear your father is ill. I will make sure to send some light and healing energy towards you and your family. What is T25? this is not a workout I am familiar with. It sounded like you did the relaxation exercise at the right moment for you. What did you get out of the exercise? I hope things get better soon.
Ramsie
Thanks for the well wishes. My family is doing well, one day at a time. T25 is a workout, Insanity scaled down to 25 minutes. As far as the relaxation exercise, it helped me to stay in the moment and redirect my stress energy.
DeleteGood Afternoon Rozelle,
ReplyDeleteI can appreciate how you were able to concentrate and fully allow your mind to get to a point where you could focus on the relaxation exercise. Be it that you have been through guided mediation before, what would be your best plan of action to get the mind to better prepare for an exercise such as this? Also I had to laugh because your comment about the voice being questionable was a struggle for me as well.
Desiree,
DeleteI think the best way to prepare is to allow yourself the freedom to be judgement free. If your thoughts drift off, it's ok. Just allow them to move freely, regardless of what they are, until you can link your breathing to allow your mind to relax. It takes time and practice.
