May I assist all individuals in finding health, happiness and wholeness

As I look over the horizon I say these words:

May all individuals gain freedom from suffering.
May all individuals find sustained health, happiness, and wholeness.
May I assist all individuals in gaining freedom from suffering.
May i assist all individuals in finding health, happiness, and wholeness.

This exercise gives me a sense of purpose, direction, and connection. It teaches me that everything that I do has an effect on others. What a powerful statement to know that you have the ability to create change, help others heal, maybe even find happiness.

I realized that nothing I meditate on has anything to do with work, money, or material things. I find that the practice of loving kindness generates the instinct to reconnect with the purity that lives in us all. We often get distracted by things, but taking time to redirect our thoughts gives us a sense of the power of universal consciousness.

One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.

Taking inventory on the on the four aspects of my life, attempting to determine which needs the greatest attention. Well, that is quite a task. All of them need work. Psychospiritual work is daily. With prayer and meditation, I have been more consistent with finding a more peaceful way of connecting my life with more purpose. It's not always easy, in fact, most days, I'm left with more questions than answers. But I continue to practice knowing that I am better today than I was yesterday.

Biologically,  I can become overwhelmed with staying motivated on improving my nutrition, fitness level and ability to self regulate. I make sure that I move my body everyday and eat well most days. Then the question becomes this: Am I the best I can be to represent the wellness center I want to create? I am not at my ideal body weight, but I feel healthy.  The world says I need to be in a smaller dress size, my spirit says I am healthier than I have ever been. Self image has been the thorn in my side for many years. I am closer than ever before to being stronger in this area, but it still needs work.

Interpersonal aspects, relationships, family, community, have been a priority for me. I make an effort to tell those around me how much I appreciate them and how grateful I am for having shared time together. I think that if more people took the time to say thank you to one another, the level of stress would go down. We often live our lives feeling neglected and taken for granted. I want to do my part to minimize that feeling, because I have lived with it for far to many years. Practicing gratitude has freed my heart to live a better life, a happier life.

As I grow in the practice of gratitude, worldly connections grow exponentially. An awareness for social activism and how my life interconnects with the world around me directs the food I eat, the clothes I wear, the choices of my life. We are interdependent and should take responsibility to be good stewards to ourselves and the world around us.

To foster a greater awareness in the areas that need more focus, I set my intentions in small blocks. For changes physically, I will reset my strategy every six weeks. I may focus on improving the number of steps I take, train for a short run, or add something beneficial to my diet to improve my health. Having a goal with a reasonable timeline is important to help identify where you are, and where you want to be. Visualization helps me channel energy towards my goals.

It's all coming together, and when it does, what a wonderful day that will be! Living with freedom from judgement, anger, materialistic desires; just an inner peace that surpasses all understanding. That will create the greatest sense of health and well being know to mankind.

  1. Hi Rozelle, Are these your vacation pictures? They are absolutely breathtaking views! I hope you feel refreshed and recharged. As I read your words, I can feel you are much farther in the process of achieving integral health. I have many barriers still holding me back, but it is so refreshing to see how you've embraced this way of life. I connect with you wholly on your comments of wealth and material possessions. That's one area I was able to work on voluntarily, and I make daily efforts to live the life of a minimalist. You have some great strategies already in place. I love your attitude and outlook, and you sound like the type of person everyone would like to know!

    1. Thank you so much for you comments! Yes, these are pics from my vacation, I can hardly believe it myself. Such beauty all around. I have come a long way from the pain and suffering that was self inflicted. It is very freeing to let go and embrace life. It is worth all of my experiences, good and bad. They make me who I am.

  2. Wow reading your post gives me a whole new prospect on meditation. You are right everything you do does effect others. I guess I never really stepped back and looked at it from that prospective. Healing and happiness go hand and hand. In order to find happiness you have to find inner peace and heal any emotional wounds you may have. Thanks for such an insightful post.

  3. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could just be positive all of the time? The reality is that you never know what someone else is going through and their struggles can easily come across as negativity towards you which of course can affect your day. Thankfully it works both ways! Positivity towards another person can turn their bad day around (not always, but sometimes)! I try to remember that when someone's not being very nice. I think it's the hardest with my husband. If he's having a bad day he gets really sarcastic and...well...not nice. It comes across as very negative and he doesn't even realize it. I stay patient for a long time but I can feel it draining me and eventually I have to let him know how it's making me feel. I think the hardest thing to do is to remain positive when you don't feel well yourself. We have to keep that in mind so that we don't let our problems come off as negativity towards others. I would much rather improve upon someone's day/life than detract from it! : ) I know I didn't directly comment on your post, but that's what your post made me think about.

    1. It's nice to see that my post allow you to think in terms of application to your life. Having techniques and exercises mean nothing if you can't relate it to your everyday moments. Remember, you deserve to be treated kindly, and it is ok to express your concerns when your not. It's all in the approach. Keeping a compassionate, non judgmental, open heart is the best time to express your feelings. Sometimes, I get so caught up in my own feelings I forget how it impacts others. Its good when a friend gives you a gentle reminder.

  4. Rozelle, what an inspiring, truthful post! I really admire the way you have taken the time to explore each of the four areas of integral health, and have set goals for yourself and made changes in your life as you felt were needed. I like how you are open to change, and are willing to revisit these goals in order to adapt, if that's what's needed. As individuals, we are always changing, so why would we think that setting a one-time goal would suffice? You really made me consider how getting caught up in my own feelings, and "junk" will impact others in my life. This week was a good practice to realize that. Thank you for sharing! Kara :)
